#leadershiptruth – Delegate Your Weaknesses

Have you ever noticed that, when it comes to sustaining a new behaviour, it’s easier to fall back into old habits than sustain new ones?

The reality is, we have limited amounts of energy and, as a result, will focus on the things that come easy to us and that we enjoy doing.

Rather than working overtime to try and fix a weakness, I say delegate it. One of my strengths is that I’m extremely good at coming up with lots of ideas, really quickly. My weakness is that I lose interest in things just as quickly so my follow-through can be fairly abysmal. I delegate this weakness in a few ways: hiring people who rock at follow-through, creating deadlines that I have to hit or else I’ll feel like a loser (I have a high winning energy, so deadlines work for me) and using structures like The Productivity Planner to keep me on track.

Why work on something that gives you no energy? Your chances of sustaining will be pretty limited, so see what you can delegate instead.

How do you delegate your weaknesses?
