The Roundtable Wins the 2018 RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Micro Business Award!

Glain Roberts-McCabe awarded out of a record-breaking 7,400 nominees

TORONTO, November 22, 2018 – The Roundtable is honoured to announce that President and Founder Glain Roberts-McCabe has been named the recipient of the Micro Business Award at the 2018 RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards. Presented by Women of Influence, and now in their 26th year, the prestigious awards recognize the country’s leading female entrepreneurs who have made impressive and substantial contributions to the local, Canadian or global economy. Glain was surrounded by clients, colleagues, family and friends who proudly joined her to celebrate this unprecedented accomplishment.

Alicia Skalin, Co-CEO and Head of Events and Programming, Women of Influence Inc., congratulated the winners for their incredible achievements, and for inspiring future generations of female entrepreneurs. “The incredible growth of our program reflects the increasing number of successful women-owned businesses in our country and the growing diversity in industries across Canada. The 2018 winners have turned their personal passions—from art and fashion to development to medicine – into thriving businesses. They have earned the esteem of their peers and their communities and are truly paving the way for future female entrepreneurs.” explained Ms. Skalin.

Glain Roberts-McCabe was one of six recipients celebrated at this year’s awards gala on November 22nd, following a record-breaking 7,400 nominees from across the country. The Micro Business Award honors entrepreneurs who own and operate small businesses that generate annual revenues of under $1 million. The applicant’s business is in any industry, at any stage and in any region, and must demonstrate a successful growth rate on the micro level.

There is no one more deserving of this award than Glain,” says Janey Piroli, Senior Director, Talent and Leadership Development at Walmart Canada. “It’s why she’s been nominated multiple times by many people, including me, who have benefitted from The Roundtable community. She’s the definition of what a true entrepreneur should be.

Glain launched The Roundtable in 2007 as a place where leaders could cultivate their leadership, together. The Roundtable is an innovative organization that re-imagines the traditional consulting firm model through an approach where program participants (who are considered members) share knowledge through group and team coaching and mentoring programs designed to increase individual and collective impact, foster collaboration and drive better business results.

In 2014, The Roundtable for Leaders peer coaching program, developed in collaboration with PepsiCo Foods Canada, was awarded the prestigious Gold Award at the Canadian Awards of Training Excellence. In 2016, The Roundtable was named as the Best External Consulting Provider in Canada at the Canadian HR Awards.

The Roundtable group coaching approach to developing leaders has been featured as an innovative best-in-class method by York University’s Professor Len Karakowsky in the Canadian management textbook The Context of Business: Understanding the Canadian Business Environment.

This award is such an honour. I’m thrilled to be able to showcase the work of our amazing team and community, and am deeply grateful to everyone at RBC and WOI for the work they’re doing to promote and support Canadian women business owners,” says Glain Roberts-McCabe.

Mary Duncan, Chief Human Resources Officer at CAA says, “Glain’s strategic mindset, coupled with her ability to operationalize, is phenomenal – and I truly believe it’s why she’s been able to be so successful as an entrepreneur and yet despite her success, Glain remains humble and gracious. She always makes me, as her client, feel like I’m the most important person in the room – as I know she does with everyone she meets.
