I read with interest the Globe and Mail’s column describing Barack Obama’s first big staff hire and was once again saddened by the fact that leaders who drive results through bullying and being prone to “angry, profanity-filled outbursts”, still manage to get ahead.
Obama has just appointed Rahm Emanuel as Chief of Staff…someone who’s style has been described (by someone who worked with him) as a cross between a hemorrohoid and a toothache. Charming.
What type of role-model is this? All this type of thing does is reinforce out-dated beliefs that IQ trumps EQ in the leadership arena. Is this the kind of leadership change everyone was hoping for?
*Sigh*
