Several years ago I saw a quote that said ‘you can’t do epic sh*t with basic people.’ I actually think basic people do epic sh*t every day. You don’t need to be exceptional to do something exceptional. However, you do need to give a sh*t. I’ve worked with many teams over the years and the teams that have been the best have been the ones where everyone is fully engaged and ‘all-in.’ It only takes one person who’s disengaged to start to suck the life out of your momentum. If you need to make a change on your team to change up the energy, make the change. Even if it feels hard at the time, the momentum you’ll gain will make a huge difference.
