Wisdom is wonderful but it’s also a curse. When you know more than someone else about a project that they’re leading, all that ‘value’ you’re adding by offering up new ideas or suggestions, can have an adverse effect. If you continually add ‘too much value’ (this is especially true for innovative people who can’t stop coming up with ideas), you may be inadvertently taking away ownership of the idea from your colleague. Overtime, they may just stop putting forward their best thinking because they know you’ll just trump it anyway. Sometimes it’s best to keep your good ideas to yourself if the idea you’re looking at is already good enough. #leadershiptruth
