#leadershiptruth – Confidence doesn’t just grow on trees

Posted December 4, 2018 in Latest News & Insights

I used to think that a person was either confident or they weren’t. I envied people who seemed to always project that air of confidence until one day I asked a highly poised friend how she did it. She looked at me blankly and said ‘are you out of your mind, I’m a nervous wreck most of the time!’ See, here’s the thing. Most of us have moments of confidence and then moments of self-doubt. Self-doubt is a tricky beast. Once it gets hold of you it can set you off on a downward spiral that’s hard to come back from. Especially if you’re not consciously and actively boosting your confidence. Confidence can and needs to be cultivated on a regular basis. Surround yourself with people who boost your confidence, do things that build your confidence and push yourself out of your comfort zone occasionally to add to that confidence reservoir. Don’t neglect your confidence. It’s the biggest barrier to overcoming that pesky self-doubt when it rears its ugly head.
