From High-Potential Managers to Results-Driven Leaders

Last month, we were beyond thrilled to learn that our partner client, CAA Club Group of Companies (CCG), had won a Brandon Hall Group Gold award for excellence for Best Advance in Leadership Development.

As one of the most prestigious awards programs in the industry, the Brandon Hall Group Excellence Awards are often called the “Academy Awards” by learning, talent and business executives. The awards, now in their 30th year, recognize the best organizations that have successfully developed and deployed programs, strategies, modalities, processes, systems, and tools that have achieved measurable results.

For 120 years, CAA has been helping Canadians stay mobile, safe and protected. CCG is comprised of two automobile clubs, CAA South Central Ontario and CAA Manitoba, providing roadside assistance, travel, insurance service and Member savings for 2.5 million members. It also includes the CAA Insurance Company, a national property and casualty insurance company; Echelon Insurance, a national specialty insurer; and the Orion Travel Insurance Company.

Shaping the leadership skills of high-potential middle management had become a key priority for CCG, with a long-term view towards executive and leadership development planning. By coaching managers into exceptional leaders, not only would it increase productivity and lead to better strategy development within the organization, but it would also strengthen their culture.

Aiming to avoid overwhelming managers with academic theory, CCG was looking for a leadership development vendor who would bring easy-to-use tools and strategies that would yield practical, situational leadership skills that could immediately be applied to the manager’s day-to-day work.

CCG’s HR team chose to run The Roundtable for Leaders program adapted for their manager-level group. The award-winning program offers a unique combination of both an individual and collective journey that profoundly deepens participant self-awareness and hold each other accountable. The program also gives these leaders the tools to thoughtfully develop their teams while leveraging what they learned.

Success By the Numbers

With over a decade of engagement in the Roundtable for Leaders program, CCG has seen an incredible effect on the organization. With an NPS* of 100, the program has become CCG’s first and only choice for coaching high-potential leaders and is considered a key component of their talent strategy.

Just a few of the outcomes include:

  • 100% of participants improved their coaching skills.
  • 100% of managers reported an improvement in participants’ leadership effectiveness.
  • 85% of participants’ performance “exceeds expectations.”

*The Roundtable uses a Net Promotor Score (NPS) to track client satisfaction. An NPS can run from -100 to +100. For service-based businesses, an NPS of 75% or above is considered Best in Class. The program has garnered an NPS of 100 for all cohorts to date.
