For this week’s installment of Fast Friday, we share with you our recent PowerRoundtable panelist Colleen Albiston’s favourite words of advice, courtesy of her grandmother…
“Find something you love doing and be good enough so that you can hire people to do the things that you don’t like doing.”
Colleen’s grandmother never did a day of housework in her life.
Dan Sullivan, president of the Strategic Coach (a program for entrepreneurs) preaches that successful entrepreneurs focus on doing what they’re great at and delegating the rest. It’s a good message for employees as well as entrepreneurs.
As a leader, are you feeling trapped by your own job description? Are you drowning in work that sucks out your passion vs. revitalizing it? Maybe it’s time to take a page out of Colleen’s grandma’s book. Begin to inventory what you love to do and what you loath to do and make a conscious plan on how you’ll start to make that happen on Monday. (For further tips on this, check out our previous blog post on how to discover your strengths).
Happy leading!
