Tomorrow marks The International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, which raises awareness and protects the rights of the world’s Indigenous population. This year’s theme is Indigenous Youth as Agents of Change for Self-determination.
As you know, The Roundtable, the Indigenous Training Corporation Inc, 3Coze and Parachute Executive Coaching combined efforts and set an ambitious goal to support 215 students by launching the #Impact215 Consortium campaign in honour of the 215 children found in unmarked graves at the site of the Kamloops Indian Residential School. The #Impact215 bursary program will provide financial assistance to Indigenous youth in Canada pursuing higher education in the field of business or leadership. We are committed to making an impact.
We are thrilled to announce that we have awarded another bursary. Here’s a few words from our recipient, who is closer to achieving their dreams and in the process becoming an agent of change..
“It has always been a dream of mine to complete a Master’s degree to enable me to give back to the First Nations communities around my hometown of Williams Lake. I have worked alongside these Indigenous communities for many years and have wanted to advance my education in order to better serve them. With the rising cost of education, your timely award is very much appreciated as it enables me to continue with my studies. It also reinforces my belief that I am on the right path to further invest in myself and, in turn help me to invest in myself and, in turn, help me to invest in the First Nations communities I care about.
When I have graduated, I am hoping for a position with either a First Nations community as a health director, a leadership position with First Nations Health Authority or perhaps as an instructor for nursing students or health support workers. Again, thank you so much for your generous support.“
